A damn good reason!

I truly believe we meet people for a reason. As the saying goes, "People always come into you life for a reason, a season and a lifetime. When you figure out which it is, you know exactly what to do."

I had a good conversation earlier today with an acquaintance, errr new friend, I should say. We spoke about business, social dynamics, energy, and "The Art of War" by Sun Tzu. It was refreshing to meet someone that 1) has read that book, 2) was truly interested in the subjects of discussion, and 3) could analyze those things with me. Sigh... Can you see the stars in my eyes? ;)

I definitely need to read "The Art of War" again. I'm sure I'll interpret it differently and will benefit more from it now than when I had read it 8 years ago.

Anyway, he explained the whole idea of questioning authority (the leader/ commander) and how the mistakes of the soldier are reflected upon that leader and is therefore the leader's fault. I honestly had a hard time understanding that. I decided to keep it to myself and think about that more later. (which I forgot to do but it worked out perfectly)

When I got home from work, I watched the latest Tivo recording of my favorite show, Grey's Anatomy. The title of the episode is "I am a Tree". Damn, it was a good one and I'm still struck in awe by it.

Get this! The convo I had earlier about "The Art of War" was explained! No joke! How trippy is that?! Bailey learns from a worried and angry father that it was his fault that his son is in surgery. The father says that he could have stopped it but didn't because he gave in (divorced and doesn't get to see his son much, bought him a luge and let him slide down a high hill)- basically, he wasn't there for him when his son needed a father. Bailey then turns around and apologizes to Izzy (her intern hat suffered the loss of a patient/ Izzie's husband-to-be). Bailey admits to being soft- having a child made her soft, she got busy, stressed and basically letting her get away with what she did. Izzy tells her that no one could have stopped her and I believed it too. Until Bailey insisted that she could have. She could have stopped it early on. Then I thought of the father's statement earlier. It clicked! I got it!

But as I am typing this, (and re-reading what I typed) I'm questioning it again. I think I'm losing it. I've always believed that people are responsible for their actions. You don't have control over others actions and there is only so much you can do.

So if I am a teacher, do I fail personally or professionally if all my students don't get A's? (No! Not my problem if they are lazy) If I were a parent, will it be my fault if my children turn out to be fuck-ups? (okay.. to an extent?) Or am I just extending this too far? Over analyzing? Can "The Art of War" only be applied to Business and Military circumstances? Sigh. Crap! It's almost 3 am. I'll leave these ideas for now.

Btw, I bought 6 tickets to see "Panic! At the Disco" on Dec. 5th. Does anyone else love them? A Google calendar evite is on the way....

More than words

A few weeks ago I had a little gathering at my place. It was mainly for my roommate since he said so many people from work wanted to come over. It was short notice but atleast we had one. I don't think I'll have another co-worker event at my place. It's always hard not to invite the whole department. Someone's bound to be butt hurt if they aren't invited. Also, clean up is a pain. And I also wasn't particularly happy that roomie didn't out of bed until an hour before guests arrived. You'd think you'd help out with the preparation and clean up of your get together. Anyway, this entry isn't about me venting. It's about the picture above. (click on it for more pics) The event was still fun and I am glad my cousins and most of my friends showed up. Sorry you missed it Anna! :(

Tim surprised me with a gift. (A million THANK YOUs TIM!) I couldn't help but show it off to every person that walked through the door. He made my year! Nothing can top a Sanrio gift!

I've got a mini-amp (thank you Mikey) and now I'm ready to rock and roll! Anyone have a song request?

All about wireless

Went home sick and found out I have a sinus infection. Oh joy. Just in time for this Saturday's love fest. 10 days on antibiotcs starting now.

I went to Fry's to celebrate the fact I'm not going to work tomorrow. Bought a wireless desktop adapter and installed it. I'm running wireless on my desktop now! Woo-hoo! It was such an easy and smooth install too! Don'tcha just love it when that happens?

As a bonus, I got an illuminated keyboard. Ooooohhh!!!

Vegas

Like I said in my previous post, Begas, whoops! Did I just type “Begas”? I meant, Vegas, was okay. It was too soon for me and I wanted to make my semi annual trip to Hawaii instead. Anyway, it all started with Flora and Amy going to Vegas for a bachelorette party. The rest of us tagged along. And apparently, it ended up being MY bachelorette too! Not sure how or why I was the chosen and no one bothered to ask where my huge diamond ring was!

We stayed at Caesar’s. The MGM was definitely better and bigger. Imagine 7 of us crammed into a room w/ 2 queen beds. Night 1 was easy- just an elevator ride down to PURE. Some guy asked “Look at all you ladies, this is a bachelorette party huh? Who’s the bachelorette?” And slowly, everyone’s finger pointed at me! Nice… I didn’t care, those guys were fugly anyway. Actually, if the guys weren’t fugly, they were with someone or they were so into themselves which ended up making them fugly. You guys do know what fugly means? Right? No wait, princess found a hot boy and almost handled it! Go PP! SM found a cute one and danced w/ him all night! (View pics but sign in to see more) I was the photographer and CB, my specialty. The party moved to Shadow Bar which was nice. And it night ended at a restaurant with delicious cheesy onion soup! Yum!

We spent the day at the spa which was so much fun! You can easily lose 5 pounds there. I don’t care if it’s all water weight, it sure does make you feel good!

The four of us saw "O" at the Bellagio and it was awesome! Wish they had better food! Wendall and I had to spend $10 for a hotdog... after the show. =/

Night #2 was at TAO, which is a very nice place by the way. We got pretty wasted and had fun. A small group of folks needed more girls to add to their group. They called us and we were able to get in FREE! (again) Lots of drinking and dancing on the slippery floor. Almost got into a fight- luckily the bouncer was coming up the stairs to stop it. I was ready to unleash my drunken UFC abilities! (drunk breezie) All of our feet hurt so bad we walked barefoot back to the hotel. We spent a half an hour soaking our hobbit feet in the tub and ended the night with room service.

Everyone but Wendall and I had an early morning flight back. We tried to go to Rehab but the line was WAY too long. 4 hours!! Can you believe it? Bouncers were charging guys $100 to get in and cut the line. If they refused on the first offer, they increased the bribe to $300! Madness! Needless to say, we ended up at the pool at Caesar’s palace and surprise! It was family day! No HOT BOYS at all! What a waste for my Hello Kitty bikini! We did get some entertainment though. A young guy comes up to Wendall and asks her 3 questions right off the bat. 1) If she came with anyone. 2) If she had any kids 3) If she was married or in a relationship. Then he insists on sitting on the same chair as Wendall. I being the CB had to step in. “Dude! How much did you have to drink?” He said he didn’t drink. Right. He started talking more bs to Wendall and she just ignored him. Ok, so I said I'd include juicy details. So this dude tells Wendall that even though he's tall, he got a small one. WTF? He kept rambling nonsense. Why would you even say that to someone? Like we care? As if she was even flirting back!!! Anyway, 5 min later, he knocks out COLD. We quickly picked up our stuff and moved to the other side of the pool.

Exhausted

Vegas was fun. Not "can't wait to go back" type of fun. Just fun.  I always have a good time with my BFFs.  I'll
list ALL the dirty details on my next entry. ;)

Since I got back, I've gotten a total of 8 hrs of sleep (in 2 days).
I'm typing this up on my bastard berry (as e.e calls it) at Costco as my
roomie shops.  Yes, 4 hours each night. I haven't made it to the gym since
last thurs. Ugh. And I'm to be in a relay race on the 20th? Yeah.

So what do I have to show for myself from these hectic days?  A messy room with
installation cds, screws, screw drivers, 2 unmounted HDD, 2 laptops, and
an open Dimension 8400 tower all spread across my bedroom floor. Yeah, not your typical girl's room.
