Financial intimacy

It matters.

I decided to take this online quiz and am very happy with the results. :)

HERE’S THE RESULTS
The letter with the largest score reveals your partner’s primary money traits.

LETTER SCORE TRAIT
A 0 penny pincher
B 0 spendthrift
C 0 gambler
D 0 financial wreck
E 6 financial catch

Okay, so what to do with this information? Start talking. If you are poles apart you need to see where you can find the common ground. I don’t care how in love you are now, or how much you insist it doesn’t matter that you are a financial catch and your partner is a financial wreck. It does matter. A lot. And the longer you are together, the more it is going to matter. Disagreements over money, a failure to have a united financial game plan, are among the biggest factors in busted relationships.

But I also want to remind you to be patient. If you are financial opposites you are not going to resolve your differences in one conversation. Over the course of many conversations where you can both express your own concerns and also truly hear your partner’s concerns you can begin to find a place of common ground. Of compromise. Financial intimacy takes time and effort.

Irony of Love

I found this online and agree with it.

Greatest Irony of love.

"The greatest irony of love;
loving the right person at the wrong time,
having the wrong person when the time is right
and finding out you love someone right after
that person walks out of your life...

and sometimes, you think you're already over a person,
but when you see them smile at you,
you'll suddenly realize that you're just pretending
to be over them just to ease the pain of knowing that
they will never be yours again...

for some, they think that letting go is one way
of expressing how much they love that person...
in my opinion, some are afraid to see the one they love
being held by someone else...

most relationships tend to fail not because
the absence of love. Love is always present.
Its just that one was being loved too much and the
other was being loved too little...

as we all know that the heart is the center of the body
but it beats on the left. Maybe that's the reason
why the heart is not always right...

most often we fall in love with the person we think we love
but to only discover that for them
we are just for passing time. while the one who truly
loves us remains either a friend or a stranger...

so here's a piece of advice;
let go when you're hurting too much.
give up when love isn't enough.
and move on when things are not like before...

For sure there is someone out there
WHO Will LOVE YOU EVEN MORE..."

weird dream

BFF was going on a trip.  SM and I were in the back seat but yet we decided to stop by the mall.  We told the gals that we would meet them in SF.  We ended up spending 2 hours at the mall.  I showed SM some terry sweats by Adidas and asked her if they were a good deal.  She examined them and decided they weren't so we didn't buy them.  SM told me she was looking for a coat so I find the coat section and we end up trying them on.  For some reason, I was carrying a RED tote bag and put it on top of some random display.  ( I got tired of holding it since we were trying on coats).  We didn't find anything so we left. Suddenly, we're at SM's house (but it didn't look like her house) and we were going pee. LOL! Then i realized that I lost my purse! SM helped me remember where we left it.  But then, she calls out to her mom asking her if she has seen it. And her mom said she saw it on the floor by the bathroom door.  So I get my purse and we get in the car and I realized that I don't even know what's in it and the most important thing is my ID and cards.  The rest were junk that I didn't care about.  Then I was mad atmyself because it was the second time I lost it (that day, i guess) and I didn't check the contents in my purse after I found it the first time.

After that, I find SM, me and Frank walking on a pier/ carnical or something.  It was a nice day out and we were all laughing and Frank squeezed my ass hard while he was walking next to me.  I was shocked at first then accepted it.

SOOO, that was my dream.  WTF does all this mean?

Remember this

I came across this quote, of all places, on MAAAI-SPAAAACE!

"You have to take the good with the bad, smile with the sad; Love what you've got and remember what you had.; Always forgive but never forget, learn from your mistakes but never regret; People will change and things will go wrong, but just remember that life goes on."

SIGH... ain't that the truth.

Afraid of the awesomeness

That's what a coworker said to me earlier to today.  That I was "just afraid of the awesomeness.  Don't be afraid."

more details to follow later.

Check back soon.

Change

That was the theme of last week's Season Premiere of Gray's Anatomy.  Even though I said I wasn't going to watch this show anymore, I am, once again, hooked.

Last season, we were left with Burke leaving Christina Yang on their wedding day, Izzie and George had an affair but he was trying to make it work with HIS WIFE Callie and Meridith broke up with her McSteamy.

This season, it seems that Christina finally is learning about love and compassion.  You can see it in her eyes when she works with patients now.  I really want to find out what happens to her- how she grows and handles what happened to her and Burke.

I'm tired of Meridith and her wishy washy ways.  Yes, she has the most issues of them all! 'nuff of that.

On to Izzie and George.  True, they were best friends.  But George is MARRIED now.  Callie LOVES him and now George just wants to be with Izzie?  I kinda feel like she provoked him.  Why can't she leave him alone?  Okay, true, you can't deny their friendship but I feel so bad for Callie.  She feels what's going on but is giving him the benefit of the doubt.  What's sad is this is what I am afraid of.  It's change.  Change that another person will stop loving me and vice versa.  Change that I will get sick of them and vice versa.  All good things come to an end. Right?  It kinda makes you want to stick with what you beleive. Me, myself and I.  Do I seriously feel that I'm better off successful and happy alone than in a relationship that is doomed? Are all relationship doomed? Isn't that the ultimate ending?

I try so hard to be positive. To keep an open outlook on love and giving things a chance but I think I am just too chicken shit because I already know what's gonna happen.

But then again, i understand that the only thing we are sure of is that everything is uncertain.  Change is inevitable.  So live it, go with it.  And you kow what's funny?  I haven't been hurt so I don't know why the fck I think like this! I swear I've been traumatized or something.
UGH! GAH!  I think i am just way to emotional to watch these shows.
/rant over.

I concur SM, the Internet is psychic

I had a weird meeting at work today. Okay, maybe 2. I checked my iweb page that feeds my daily horoscope and here's what it told me:

"Something is changing at work, and it may take a while to sort out the mixed messages you are receiving before determining which path will make the most sense. Use the upcoming weekend to consider all your options. Talk to others about the potential problems you see in the near future. A little planning now, even if it makes you uncomfortable to wait, can prepare you for the intensity that's just around the corner."

wow.

Emo-ness

It seems that more often than usual I've been feeling like crap. I am not sure what to blame it on. I know I haven't been blogging but I've been busy. Yeah, yeah, so cliche I know but it's true. And when I do feel like blogging, I end up talking to someone or just wait until the feeling subsides.

Anyway, I have 5 peer feedbacks to write by midnight tonight and am just not motivated. I'm not really motivated to do anything right now. I know, it's sad. Pathetic. SIGH. that's all I want to do. SIGH. Sigh and take deep breaths because sometimes it feels like I can't breathe. Or maybe I'm just not getting enough oxygen. ?

I feel like I need a vacation. SIIIIGHHHH!

Scrape that tongue

I just started Tivo-ing Hells Kitchen. If you haven't seen or heard about it, it's about aspiring chefs competing to be the next star. So, I've only watched the first 15 min of this particular episode and it's great! Chef Ramsay is a ruthless. It's shocking and funny at the same time.

I'm compelled to blog about this because in this one scene or elimination round, the male and female chefs have to guess the correct types of food by taste alone. The chefs are blindfolded and have their ears covered. They get random bite sized pieces of food and these chefs (mostly the boys) were guessing them wrong. Seriously, how can you mistake a potato? hard boiled egg yolk? one guy mistook a pear for a mango. Unbelievable. I want to try this exercise. Not to brag, but I think I'd be really, really, really good at it. ;) (Molly Shannon fans?)

The girls won this round. (YES! I knew it) There were able to experience an unusual dining experience of dining in the dark. The guys- well, they had to prepare for 2 kitchens AND practice using their palette and had to eat things like tongue, kidneys and liver for dinner. They were acting like it was fear factor. Well, I guess I would too but other cultures eat this type of food like nothing.

[update- I'm now 30 min into this and the Chef is so ABUSIVE! OMG! I would not be able to handle that. I feel so bad for the chefs.]

Into the swing of things

It's been a week back since I got back from vacation. Uploaded the pics (emil me if you want the link) and got caught up on work. Things were going fine. That is until I started taking Krav Maga and Combat Fit again. I went on Saturday. They created a new program called "300" inspired by the movie. I was so winded and dizzy. I almost threw up. I took 3 min. out and tried to slow down but there's really no way you can do that in class. It truly is like "combat training". Seriously. I went to Jason's surprise party etc. Got home around 4 and took a nap. I woke up at 5 with a POUNDING headache. It was pounding so hard, I thought it was something I ate. I went upstairs to sleep it off. I slept until 9:30 pm and my head continued to pound. I felt like throwing up. I started to get scared thinking I was having an aneurism. I decided to get food. Ate, took some Tylenol and slept from midnight until 10 am. My head STILL hurt so I slept until 1:30 in the afternoon. It was finally gone. I've never had a headache that bad. Actually, something similar happened to me before. It was after Krav. We did a lot of pad work, where you get punched and kicked and maybe the shock of it all hurt my head. (?) Anyway, this past Sat at Krav, we did do pad work and boy, did my BOOBS HURT!!! It's been a while since I've taken punches and my partner was very strong. I need to get back up to speed but I will have to start out slow. Back to square 1. sigh. :/

I found out that my migraine was triggered by exertion. I hope to not get them again. Only 1 out of every 100 people get them. Know I know I'm special. Maybe the blood vessels in my brain are wearing thin? Oh no, time to see a Dr.

BFF handles Asia!

That's right, in less than 24 hours we will be on a plane to Thailand. After handling Thailand, it's off to Hong Kong and finally Japan. :) Pictures and video to come!

I should be packed. BUT.....I'm spending too much time getting the electronics portion of my packing. Air charger, travel adapters, cam corder, charging batteries, loading Ipod and laptop.... ugh. (I've spent 2 days on this)

Freakin' itunes is giving me problems. Why are there so many DUPLICATE ENTRIES!!!???! FUG! Isn't there somewhere I can "check" that deletes the duplicate songs in the library? Oh man! That's technology for ya! Grrrrr....! (itunes issue: 1 hour but I've packed food, toiletries and carry -on bag: 3hours)

OK, I just need to take 20 min. throwing my clothes in my suitcase and then I'll be done!

Life as a sailor

As I was prepping the camcorder that my dad gave me for my Asia trip (going on vacation folks!) I came across some his old test videos on the mini DVD. My dad recorded his cabin on the ship, (he shares a cabin w/ another person. It's super small and he stays on the bottom bunk.) the ocean (how he sees it from the Navy ship) and various clips from his life out on sea. (Some are pretty funny and I should show them to him when I get back from vacation)

I started thinking how hard it is to live out on sea for 9 months the year. It was like this all my life except for 4 years when he wasn't around at all. Oh and not to mention despite the fact he has 3 mo. of vacation, he spent 1-2 months of it in Hawaii and/or the Philippines.

I watched every video, even if it was just of the ocean. I didn't think it was boring. It was comforting. The sound of the wind, the movement of the waves, and the sound of my dad speaking every now and then. I miss my dad. I just saw him last weekend but I wish I had more time to spend with him. I miss the mini weekend trips, his lectures, experiences and smart-ass comments, oh yes, tough love in the G family.

I remember when he took me on a tour of one of his navy ships in San Diego. It was fascinating to me. I loved it. The Navy, ocean, and ships interests me because of him. Maybe it makes me feel closer to knowing him.

So I'm going off topic here but yeah, life as a sailor is a LIFESTYLE that is hard to change and some people are meant for it forever. I'm just curious as to how and what goes on in their heads when they are so far away from loved ones. How it conditions them to think and act a certain way.

Okay, it's 2:30. I'm just rambling. Maybe feeling a lil emo. Atleast it's emo for my family and my #1 man, my Daddy-o! G'night all!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Wait! on a lighter note, I found these jokes on the web. I only copied the ones I LOLed at. Here's how to simulate the life of a sailor:
Buy a steel dumpster, paint it haze-gray inside and out, and live in it for six months.
Run all the pipes and wires in your house exposed on the walls.
Repaint your entire house every month. Color Choices-Haze Grey or Dark Grey
ImageRenovate your bathroom (and henceforth always refer to it as the “head”). Build a wall across the middle of the bathtub(shower-stall) and move the showerhead to chest level. When you take a shower, make sure you turn off the water while you soap down. (Wet down, turn off water, soap down, Turn on water rinse down! Navy Shower) (Hollywood Showers are showers that last more than one(1) Minute)
Raise the thresholds and lower the headers of your front and back doors so that you either trip or bang your head every time you pass through them. (WALKED THROUGH AND SAW THESE KNEE-KNOCKERS FIRST HAND!)
Disassemble and inspect your lawn-mower every week.
On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, turn your water heater temperature up to 200 degrees. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, turn the water heater off. On Saturdays and Sundays tell your family they use too much water during the week, so no bathing will be allowed. (call it “water hours”)
Raise your bed to within 6 inches of the ceiling, so you can’t turn over without getting out and then getting back in. Put all your clothes under your mattress to press them!
Sleep on the shelf in your closet. Replace the closet door with a curtain. Have your spouse whip open the curtain about 3 hours after you go to sleep, shine a flashlight in your eyes, and say “Sorry, wrong rack.” (SO TRUE!! SAW THIS SET UP ON MY DAD'S CABIN VIDEO)
Have your mother-in-law write down everything she’s going to do the following day, then have her make you stand in your back yard at 6 am while she reads it to you. (call it “Morning Muster Call”)
Submit a request chit to your father-in-law requesting permission to leave your house before 3 pm. (call it “Early-Liberty”)
Empty all the garbage bins in your house and sweep the driveway three times a day, whether it needs it or not. (Stop referring to the garbage bins as “SHIT-CAN’s”)
Watch no TV except for movies played in the middle of the night. Have your family vote on which movie to watch, then show a different one. (call it “Movie Call”)
Post a menu on the kitchen door informing your family that they are having steak for dinner. Then make them wait in line for an hour. When they finally get to the kitchen, tell them you are out of steak, but they can have dried ham or hot dogs or a horse cock sandwich . Repeat daily until they ignore the menu and just ask for hot dogs.( Horse cock= BOLOGNA)
Get up every night around midnight and have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich OR HORSE COCK on stale bread. (Midrats=MIDNIGHT RATIONS)
Set your alarm clock to go off at random times during the night. At the alarm, jump up and dress as fast as you can, making sure to button your top shirt button and tuck your pants into your socks. Run out into the backyard and uncoil the garden hose. (call it “FIRE DRILL”)
Every week or so, throw your dog in the pool and shout, “Man overboard port side!” Rate your family members on how fast they respond.
Make coffee using eighteen scoops of budget priced coffee grounds per pot, and allow the pot to simmer for 5 hours before drinking. Or go to boiler room for some BT (Boiler Tech) coffee made from feed water, nasty tasting stuff, but you get used to it, drinking hot coffee when in 145 down there in front of the boilers, that’s a cool day!
Have someone under the age of ten give you a haircut with sheep shears, and tell the barber just a little off the sides.
Get drunk and wind up in a tattoo parlor getting a tattoo
Eat your meal in less than 5 minutes to keep in practice, chewing not required!
Snakes in my room!
Well, not really in my room, but my mom's room. I had another lucid dream last night and it involved snakes. Lots of them. Small to medium sized ones. I knew that I should have blogged this when I woke up this morning but I thought I could remember every detail of it. :/
I do remember picking out snakes in my dream. I can't remember if it was just me or my mom also. Anyway, I order about a dozen snakes. (not sure why or where) I'm playing with a few snakes. I'm practicing grabbing it by the head and trying to control or tame it. And as I play with it, I find it interesting that they shock (electro-static type shock) when I hold them by their tails and dangle them up to down. I do this to about 3 snakes trying to figure out why it's happening. I stop because my right arm hurts from all the continuous shock I received.
Next thing I know is that I'm at my parent's house, in my mom's room. [As a child, and even today, when my mom is not around, I lay in her bed. Usually, I throw myself on it and just lay there, look around and breathe.] I see that my mom's bed isn't made and in my head, I think "I know she bought snakes too but I wonder where she put them". I crawl into her bed and drown myself in her covers and turn on her TV. All of a sudden, I get bit in the ass and thigh about 3 times. I pull off the covers and see a whole mess of snakes! I don't freak out. I just acknowledge the pain from the bite and stand up and rip them off me. I throw them on the floor and bed and walk out. I can't stop thinking how much their bite stung me as the pain lingers.
Now I'm in what it seems like a school dance or reception. A guy, whom I can't tell is cute or not, wants to dance with me. And since I didn't like the song that was playing, I tell him to wait for a better song. So he's standing by me and we're both just listening to the music waiting for a good song to start and it does. I turn to him and say, "ok, we can dance now".
As we're dancing, I wake to hear the song playing on snooze. So, WTF does this mean? I don't get it but thought I'd write it down here for your and future analyis.
I sure hope it's not a bad premonition for my Asia trip. I def. don't wanna get bit by a snake.
Split - Wendall's song
I'm not heart broken or anything but I've repeated this song over 50 times tonight. Here are the lyrics. Can you connect with it too? Best eveR lyrics!
As sunlight splits through naked trees
Nothing that feels invisible exits
You may believe in me
But I won’t let you go with my soul
It’s all around me
The season of red, green and gold
The cold wind steals your memory
Fresh out of my mind
The sky fills the broken
Emotions in my arms
I'll find support in the air
I'll find support in the wind
I'll find support in the clouds
I'll find support in the love
And I will end you bravely
The space you left in me
..... space you left in me
You may believe in me
But my heart is staying here with me
Dancing like the dying leaves
As they stand along the trees
In silence I see and I praise the empty
as sunlight splits through naked trees
nothing that feels invisible exits.
Maybe you need to hear the song. Here's the video:
Who does that?!
I went into one of the stalls in the women's restroom to take a leak and as I'm looking down, I see that the women in the next stall is BAREFOOT! WTF?! It looks as if she's in her PJ bottoms. Okay, it was about 3pm. Come on now! And to think that was bad, THE WOMAN WALKS OUT OF THE STALL AND STRAIGHT OUT THE DOOR!!!!
Since we're on the women's restroom topic. One of my pet peeves is to find food bits etc. in the sink while I'm washing my hands. For Christ's sake, after you brush your teeth, take 30 freakin' seconds to rinse the bowl. UGH. BARF!
Don't forget rule #1
I came across this old Southpark clip and thought it was too funny not to post. It's basically making fun of Hilton. The girls in the 4th grade all strive to be whores.
Check it out here.
Just press play. You gotta watch the whole thing!
*my favorite part is when all 5 gals are checking out the boys to see who to invite to their whore party and when they don't invite Cartman, he curses them out. LOL!*
Time to focus
My horoscope for today said "Even with the hectic pace you set today, you can still find time for meaningful discussions about a new and exciting venture. Don't allow yourself to get trapped by commitments and don't feel guilty if you must break one to be nice to yourself. Remember, the planets are working with you and not against you, so rest assured that your pleasure is well deserved."
It is 9:30 p.m and I am still at work and plan to be until I get my -ish done. No rest for the wicked, I guess. Atleast I'll feel better by the end of the week.
There's just so much to do at work and at home before Asia and I know I have to handle it now before it gets really bad. *sigh* Do you ever feel so overwhelmed to the point you can't do anything. It's one of those phases for me.
Best Friends ForeveRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I had a bad dream last night. It wasn't so bad to where I woke up from my sleep with tears down my face but I did cry in my dream.
Ok, this is going to be lame but whatever. BFF made a new friend (not sure who or how we became friends w/ this new chick) and she was quasi in the group. All was fun, we were all hanging out for a few months and finally this new friend invited us to go some party. Of course I said that I was down to go but the rest of BFF were a bit hesitant. Some were giving the face that they would be down but not sure. That's fine. This is how we are since we always want to see what's a better thing to do and make sure everyone agrees to it.
Next thing I know, I'm following this girl and I thought the rest of the BFF were with or atleast following a bit behind me. I turn around and see my SM and the others about 20 feet away. They're all grouped together behind some sort of imaginary barricade. No one walks over to me. I look to my SM and say, "Come on, aren't you coming?" and she says "No, I don't want to go." Then I look at this new chick who was like, ok, whatever, let's go. As I head over to the girls to find out what was up, Amy pops out from behind SM and says "You can't come back this way" So there I was, standing kind of in the middle. Wondering what the fuck happened and how no one wanted to hang out and why I couldn't go back to them.
A whole bunch of emotions ran through my body from confusion, anger, betrayal, love and sadness. I started crying in my dream asking them in my dream "why?" and Amy said, "you crossed over and you can't come back anymore. too late." I started crying so hard because I felt that I was purposely "set up" to follow this new chick and choose between her and my BFFs. Obviously, I was going to choose BFF but they wouldn't let me. I felt that all this time, no one had my back and that it was a 1 way street. Then, I woke up.
I don't know what prompted that nightmare. Maybe it's the fact that I really love my SM, Wendall, Anna, Amy, Laura and Iku and it would be a tragedy if I lost any of their friendships. (knocks on wood)
Gawd! It's so psychic!
i seriously should start a new blog on horoscopes alone.
Today said this:
This could be a time of some increased responsibilities for you. But even if much is demanded of you, you should find that you're more than up to the challenge right now. Your social skills could be called upon today as well, and you should have a chance to straighten out any number of matters and get a fresh start.
THIS IS AMAZING!
don't mind my emo-ness
is that even a word? Probably not. Anyway, my SM got me hooked onto checking my horoscope daily. It's so weird, fascinating and so far.. TRUE. Today, mine said:
Aquarius
January 20 - February 18
Be ready to prove your worthiness by working hard and making plenty of sacrifices right now. Your family might not necessarily appreciate all your sacrifices though, and there could be a few conflicts to deal with on the home front. And it might not be a bad idea to think about revising a few of your goals right now.
..And I was presented w/ more projects. wow.
dessertS
I've been out of it for a while. It's strange. I want to talk about it but then nothing comes out of my mouth. Then there's the idea that you want to share it only with a select few but it doesn't happen. It's just the feeling that lingers in my chest and in every breath I take. (sigh)
My horoscope for today said: Aquarius
January 20 - February 18
A few interesting developments could be leading to some new opportunities for you at this time. Be confident that things are going in your direction and try to dispense with any lingering fears or concerns that might be plaguing you right now. Just remember to keep moving forward and making progress.
It completely relates to what I'm going through right now. Yes, SM, the Internets is psychic. :)
Geeks ARE better lovers
I came across this awesome article from wired. I can honestly say, it's true. Geeks do make better lovers- atleast the young, social, undercover Geeks -- which are my personal favs. ;)
In summary, here are 10 reasons why Geeks make better lovers. (as taken from the article by Regina Lynn.)
1) Geeks build it so you will come
Sex animations came from technical smarts and an open-minded approach. Geeks have the passion to commit their techie skills to expand sexual options for everyone, hence their dedication as lovers.
2) Geeks get personal with tech
"A geek is more likely to figure out how to customize toys and to design arousing environments for your avatars to play in than a non-geek. And that experience translates into a greater sensitivity to atmosphere and mood during sex -- beyond lighting a candle."
3) Geeks dig consensual role playing
erotic imagination
4) Geeks interact
And all of us gals love this: phone bangin! While the technophobes will only speak in person, geek is happy to be with you by texting your phone, flirting with you in a chat room, Skyping you, sending funny cell-phone snapshots to your e-mail, playing online games, commenting on your blog, Digging articles that interest you, seducing you by instant message…. YOU KNOW IT'S ALL ABOUT THAT! ..and MaaaaiiiiSpaaaace!
5) Geeks get things done
Geeks know all the shortcuts. They "research" your interests, plan dates/vacations out, and when asked to help set up your wi-fi or computer, they do it quickly and happily--- without complaint.
6) Geeks are HOT
and have the coolest glasses and gadgets.
7) Geeks don't shock easily
They have more porn on their machine anyone can imagine. So bring on your exotic erotic requests.
8) Geeks know kinky people
yes, we do. we are them. LOL! :D
9) Geeks understand multi-dimensional relationships
online/long distance/local relationships etc.
10) Geeks aren't threatened by the new tech or "future of sex"
Geeks read lots of sci-fic. "Geeks have imagined more sexual dystopias than the average person and are the first to see the technological developments"
So there you have it! And I know this is corny but someone said this.
"A Geek Enters your life, Saves you in his/her heart, and never Deletes you from his/her Memory."
Aw! So cute! I know, BARF! :p
Horoscopes - crock of shit?
thanks to Sm's post, I was inspired to check my horoscope. OMG! Soulmaaate! It's so true! HOLY SHIT! I'm a believer!
This was from last Thursday, April 19th!
"
Quickie:
Some romances take time to develop. Be passionate, but also have patience.
Overview:
This new person is just fascinating, but there's something about him or her you can't quite get a handle on. So give it time before you decide one way or the other. After all, that's how the fun happens: when you let it."
[taken from: http://astrology.yahoo.com/astrology/general/dailyoverview/aquarius/20070419]
Then for Friday:
"Why just talk when you can sing? Why write an email when you can send a funny online greeting card? Put some effort into trying to be more creative with how you communicate today. People will feel pampered by the extra few minutes of attention that you give them, and their hearts will be warmed by your unique way of expressing how you feel. Let your ideas flow, and don't try to fit your words into pre-existing (and boring) templates."
and OMG for SUNDAY:
You are feeling many contradictory emotions right now, and your feelings might be confusing you to the point of frustration. You need to take a step back from them, so you can look at things in a more analytical, objective way. Getting your emotions organized will help you understand them better and launch you into a much more productive phase. So instead of reacting to your feelings, start dissecting them.
Per SM, I must never, ever forget rule #1...
The magic of touch
Don't ask how or why but I found this off the web:
"Thirty minutes of sex can burn approximately 150 calories – less than the same amount of time on the stair climber, but more than an average yoga class (115 calories). In fact, sex three times a week for a year burns more calories than running 75 miles and, according to the Kinsey Institute, we lose about five pounds a year due to sex alone."
Fuck it.
bullshitters
they're everywhere. I've learned to just let them run their mouth and pay no attention to them. Seriously, you don't have to lie to kick it.
Procrastination
I'm guilty of it. :(
I came across this quote online-
"A task left undone remains undone in two places - at the actual location of the task, and inside your head."
So true! There's more stress in just thinking about it. Argh!!!!!
Omg! Kelly Clarkson has done it again!
Kelly's new CD, My December, will be out soon and this is her first single from it. Actually, this is the REMIX. The song's title is Never Again (Dave Aude Remix).
The original version has more of a rock flair that matches well with her sexy voice but this, hands down, is the best! While the Dave Aude remix is more of a dance/vocal trance sound and it's...OMG, I can't explain it. Just listen and download here. And if you are looking for the lyrics, click here. Enjoy!
Man! I can't wait for her CD.
The shortest love story
Once upon a time, a girl asked a guy, "Will you marry me?" The guy said "No!"
And the girl lived happily ever after &went shopping, drank martinis with friends, always had a clean house, never had to cook, had a closet full of shoes & handbags, stayed skinny, & was never farted on.
The end.
All is fair in love and war
I came across this show called "The Ultimate Love Test". I recorded half a show and ended up subscribing to the season. Basically, troubled couples are separated and one partner stays home while the other is paired up with another partner (that has the qualities his/her current partner lacks) for a month of ( all expense paid) romance at a resort. At the end of the month, they get $50K each and have to make a decision to stay with their partner or split up.
I find it weird how quickly the partner that is off at the resort is happily starting a new relationship with the new guy/girl the show has matched for them. Okay, it could all be BS but still. But then again, it's easy to fall for someone if you're on an all expense paid vacation, experiencing and exploring new things together. It's easy to get wrapped in the fantasy of it all. Isn't it? Shoot, I wanna take a vacation and fall in love for month.
Anyway, when it came time for this one girl to say goodbye to her new partner, she was all emotional. (i guess I would be too) But the advice he was giving her is worth remembering. Forever. He told her that he wants her to be happy regardless her decision. (blah, blah) And for her to do what she loves and that everything else is fair. (Her love was art and she wanted to have her own gallery etc.) He told her it wasn't complicated. If she was staying with someone because of the fear of hurting them, that is the wrong reason to be with them. That is so damn true. When I heard that, it hit home. Been there, done that! I guess that's why I try to may logical sense and decisions on the like.
I hate unnecessary drama. Then again, is there any type that is? :/
I'm hungry
and I'm craving for ...
Just when you least expect it
Funny how when you want to give up and when you are almost done letting go, something happens to give you hope. It's not much, but enough to keep you from getting bitter. It reinforces my belief that everything happens for a reason.
island feva
I'm past the R&B/ old school jam phase. I am so sick of allergies right now and Claritin isn't cutting it.
Right now, particularly at this moment, I crave:
78-88 degree weather w/ slight humidity.
Sandy beaches.
Cool breezes.
The smell of Hawaiian tropic sun tan oil.
The saltiness of the ocean on my lips after jumping the waves.
fresh pineapples.
light fragrance of plumeria in the air.
sunshine!
warm nights.
and how do you think I cope with this craving and medicate my burn out? Well, with the sweet sounds of reggae beats, of course! That's right! ALL day, ALL night!
Emo week with Mat Kearney
I've been in a Motown and Mat Kearney mood this week. I think I got into the Motown mood from American Idol. Yesterday, they had a lot of Diana Ross' music. She's so awesome and is still a DIVA.
Being a Counting Crows and Coldplay fan, I've been drawn to Mat Kearney. I love "Nothing Left To Lose". I've been listening to his CD the whole day.
Screen shots on a Mac
I have to post this here because I always have to search for it. Here's a nice quick-n-easy summary.
* Apple (Command) Key + Shift + 3
Captures entire desktop to a file on the desktop as 'picture #' . This option lets you capture the whole screen. If you want just one window on your screen, you will have to edit the picture using image editing software.
* Apple + Shift + 4
Allows you to use your mouse to select a specific part of your desktop for capture. This will turn your mouse pointer into a cross, please hold down the mouse button and drag to select the part of the screen you want. When you release the button the screenshot will "snap" that part of the screen. Press 'Esc' to release.
* Apple + Shift + 4 then press Spacebar
Allows you to select which window to capture.
Hot Kiss .. makes me wanna..
Were you lucky enough to see this commercial? I caught it while watching Desperate Housewives last month. OH. MY. GAH. This is the best kiss eveR. Watching this just makes me wanna find someone to make out with.
Sigh. How I miss kisses like this. It's so rare to feel such a connection. But if you have, I'm sure watching this will bring some feelings back.
By the way, these 2 models are actual lovers! How sweet is that? And the sensuous music playing in the background is "Waterfall" by Griffen House. Check out his page. I found that I love all his songs!
Light up! Light up!
I went see Snow Patrol in concert this evening at the Bill Graham Civic Center. They were pretty good live. I was won over as soon as they spoke into the mic and heard their sexy Irish accent. ;) Ah! Memories of Raymond- the Irish exchange student/soccer (football) player from Yale. Sigh.
Anyway, Snow Patrol pretty much played all the songs from their recent album. My personal favorite songs are: Run, Open Your Eyes, Chocolate, Hands Open, Grazed Knees, and Set Fire to the Third Bar -- they picked a girl from the crowd to get on stage to sing with them! Oh and of course Chasing Cars, but did I really have to mention that?
It was sad they didn't perform the whole song to "You Could Be Happy". It's a sad song that makes me feel warm inside. Does that even make sense? Well, it's one of those. Anyway, I browsed YouTube for a video and came across this.
It's the perfect song to my favorite Opera. :) All I ask of you...Oh tear! True love!
Anyahasayo! Mr. Blind date
Imagine that you're like me. A single chick that spends most of her time working, Krav, hula dancing and of course with her BFFs. You wouldn't have time to date, right? No time to meet anyone new or that can hold your interest. Well, what if....just what if, your employer understood this emotional and physical need. And decided to set you up on BLIND dates and pay for the week get-away? Okay, so they won't pay for the WHOLE trip but most of it. Wouldn't that be FUN?
You're in luck... a Korean bank actually does this!!!! Seriously! Check it out!
Okay, so after some thought I still don't think that would hit the spot. I mean, what if your type is tall, dark and handsome? :/
hanakotoba
With Valentine's Day tomorrow, I thought I'd post something about this. I came across an article that defined the secret "language of flowers." Keep in mind that:
Yellow rose means ‘friendship’
Red roses mean ‘love’
pink roses mean ‘happiness
white roses mean ‘virtue’
red camellia means ‘being in love’ but a yellow camellia means ‘longing.’
Red tulips can stand for trust, pride, or pity.
Yellow tulips represent one-sided love and dark blue or purple tulips show mourning for the deceased.
Here's the link to the actual article I got this from.
I also found this site where you can search for the types of flowers, their meanings and represented emotions.
Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Love is for Losers! (with a capital "L")
NSFW! = Not Safe For Work!
I really don't mind that most of my coworkers are male. I'm pretty much used to it. Even the idea that most of them are typical engineers that have not had a girlfriend in 5+ years, let alone even kissed a girl doesn't bother me. What is slightly bothersome is the fact a few felt this video Was Safe For Work and played it in the conference room before our meeting started.
*Sigh* Don't get me wrong, the video was hilarious. Just not so hilarious being the only chick in a room with 11 geeks and 1 being my boss! I think it was the first time I was so uncomfortable - blushing, warm and was ready to run out of the room!
(you'll need a YouTube acct to watch the video)
Gung Hay Fat Choy
Since I've been sick and still am, I started cleaning my room for the new year. I've emptied every drawer and dumped all their contents onto my bedroom floor so I am forced to go through everything. Sigh, so much to do and so little time. Well, good news is that this year may be my luckiest! :) Check to see how well you may be this year!
get over it
It seems like the people around that are in relationships are now becoming single. It's good and bad. Good for me because I get my friends back but also sad to hear and see their heart breaking. A few have been in two and four year relationships and another has been in a merely 5 week relationship. I was talking to a friend yesterday and she told me that it takes half the time you were with that person to get over them. For instance, if you were in a 2 year relationship, it will take you a year to get over that person.
I don't agree with that statement. I think it takes more than half the time you spend with that person. Granted you should consider how you felt about the person and the type of person you are. I know for me, it takes atLEAST half of my relationship time to get over the other person. And only a little of it is heartbreak. For the most part, it's time spent clearing the other person's negative energy out of my life. I know there are some people that can jump from relationship to relationship but I can't and don't understand how. I would just lose myself.
I decided to get some insight on my friend's statement by researching the online community on Yahoo Answers. (I am so addicted to that site!) I chose that best answer btw. :) Anyway, I completely agree with the answer. I believe we meet people for a reason. Either to help us through some rough times, show or teach us about love or whatever it is we need to learn about, fill in emptiness, act as a middleperson, anything! Yes, it's hard to understand what the lesson may be but if you don't learn anything, you'll need to learn it again. Sadly, this happens. Some women find themselves with the same abusive relationship. Some men find themselves getting cheated on- again. A never-ending vicious cycle that wastes time and energy. Life is short.
My conclusion is that it's OK to not forget that person completely. You'll remember them until you meet someone better. Even then, you may still think of that person at times or he/she will cross your mind in the future. But getting over it is about learning from the relationship. Learn so you can better approach the next relationship you get into. And keep in mind that it's not ALL YOU. The downfall is a combination of things. Reasons could be the timing, external factors/ influences or as simple as she's just a BITCH that doesn't care about your feelings. In this case, learn the signs so you don't pick another loser. Don't deny it. Be true to yourself. Listen to your friends when they give you advice- you trust your friends right? Moving on is accepting it. That's the real closure. Cheers to a year of satisfying love and positive personal growth- always!
idiots
seriously, it's not that hard to change your freaking password. For the 20th time, make sure it's not based on a dictionary word, has numbers, 8 characters long and make sure you include a symbol.
JEEZUS! Don't cry or throw fit. And when I say "log off" log off the damn machine. Not close the other person's browser and reopen it.
OMG it's been 55 min. *%&$@#^! And don't ask me to create a password for you because you can't. ARGH!!!!! I've got places to go and people to see too!
Maybe it's my fault for helping you on this fine Sunday!
Demetri Martin is so hilarious. Do you have a half hour to kill? Check this out. Or you can let it play in the background while you work. :)
Thanks Tim for sending me this. It's actually a Windows Vista ad. I'm not too sure about Vista but so far I'm liking the campaign.
Gravity
There's just something about this song that I love. I've been listening to this on repeat the past 3 days. So bluesy (is that even a word?) and touching. Hooray for John Mayer. It's off his Continuum CD btw.
Lyrics:
Gravity is working against me
And gravity wants to bring me down
Oh I'll never know what makes this man
With all the love that his heart can stand
Dream of ways to throw it all away
Oh Gravity is working against me
And gravity wants to bring me down
Oh twice as much aint twice as good
And can't sustain like one half could
It's wanting more
That's gonna send me to my knees
(repeat)
Oh gravity, stay the hell away from me
Oh gravity has taken better men than me you see now how can that be?
iNeed
You really don't know you need the iPhone or appleTV until you actually see it. Now, I'm thinking that I really need it. Even if it's for "testing" purposes. I was lucky enough to attend Mac World in SF for work. As a new Mac user, and first timer to the convention it was very exciting. It's true what they say- it's a cult. I'm happy to say that I have crossed over. There are just so many cool things you can do on a Mac and in less time! Here's a sneak peak of what Leopard will offer when it comes out this Spring.
While at the expo, I was even lucky enough to watch a live taping my fav podcast-Diggnation. And Kevin Rose is such a cutie.
picture from MacWorld are here.
Happy 2007! And the number 1 company to work for is....
Oh no, it's not Yahoo. It's Gooooooogle! Isn't that just awesome?
Read the full article from Fortune here.
Don't forget to take the quiz to see how much you know about Google. I unfortuneatly got:
Your final score:
20 out of 60
ANALYSIS:
Yikes, you've got a lot to learn. Don't quit your current job.
(By the way, #5 should be "all of the above". Because when you first get hired, you get 1 free massage, or so I've heard.)
Ah well, it's true, I have lots to learn and I wouldn't DARE think of quiting my current job. I love it way too much!
