Weekend trip to Oregon

The invitation
Originally uploaded by sweetCheryl.
Went to Oregon last week to see my close friend get married. Also went to visit family. Left work early Friday to only get delayed at the airport for 2 hours! Yeah, Southwest SUCKS. THANK GOD for Gordon & Biersch and California Pizza Kitchen at the airport. Next time, I'll pay the $20 extra to fly on any other airline.

Unfortunately, the wedding started 1.5 hours late and I was unable to attend the reception because of it. I had planned a dinner with family that evening- thinking I would be able to stay at the reception for an hour.

Glad I was still able to see K and be there on her happiest day! The weather in Oregon was perfect that weekend. If I hadn't gone, who knows what the weather would have been like. ;)

Photos of my weekend are on flickr and to watch my mini video clips from the wedding, visit to my other site.

A not-so-BLIND-date

One of my best friends set me up to meet a friend of hers. The first time Mrs. Matchmaker set me up was 6 years ago and I can honestly say that it was almost a perfect match. Blind date #2 was last spring and it was a shame that I wore heels to our date because when standing, he came up to my chin. This time, the 3rd time, should be a charm right? Wrong.

Rendezvous was @ 8pm @ the Elephant Bar off Hamilton. Why they picked that place so far from my work is beyond me. I didn’t leave work until 7:50 so needless to say, we were late. Yes, “we” because this time, she participated in the blind date; supposedly he did not want to meet me alone. O-kay.

Susan and I enter the bar arm in arm. (I like to think that she’s MY date) Upon scanning the bar, we approach an olive skin, well built (nice arms and back), middle aged man with a high & tight haircut. First the introduction then the handshake-- what? It wasn’t exactly a dead fish but he could have had a better grip & squeeze. He was so quick that he already had the bar tender make us a drink. Too bad the bartender SUCKED. We were given 2 watered down flavorless –ok, not so flavorless but a grapefruit/ vodka sort of a drink. The drink he was drinking- a black superman. Was that a hint? Did he think he could be MY superman? Heh, heh, heh.

We end up getting a table at the bar because he didn’t think to “reserve” one. Fine with me. Let’s just eat & drink and get this over with so I can go home and work. He noticed my t-shirt. Yes, the t-shirt that I wore just for the occasion “I’m blogging this” Too bad, so sad he didn’t know what it meant. I thought everyone knew what blogging was. Maybe it’s because there was a GENERATION GAP as this man is 38 years old!!?! Yeah. You heard right. Why is Susan trying to match me up with this divorcee who has 2, yes count them- uno, dos/one, two teenage children. One is 14 and the other 12.

Get this, he wanted to order a SALAD! Yeah, serious! I couldn’t help myself so I ordered 3 appetizers. My potato skins w/ side of sour cream, artichoke cheese dip- which by the way he bitched because he “doesn’t like artichokes” and a sampler. He tried to get me drunk or buzzed by ordering another strong drink. He just didn’t know how much I could drink. Tsk, tsk, tsk…

Reasons why I’m NOT, ne pas, attracted to him:
1) He’s 38 – and acts like it.
2) 2 teenage kids- no instant mom here!
3) Weak handshake – but it wasn’t that bad.
4) VERY computer Illiterate
5) Eats too healthy- live a little!
6) Has NEVER had THAI FOOD- what the @#$&!
7) Doesn’t eat spicy foods
8) Doesn’t know much about Vietnamese food!
9) Has NEVER has KOREAN FOOD - what the @#$&!
10) My height

To be fair, I will list the pluses about him
1) He’s nice- not cocky
2) Kickboxing instructor- body to prove it!
3) Samoan but speaks Spanish
4) Short hair, clean shaven
5) Astrological sign= Virgo – I get along with them but this can be a minus – not a love match
6) Handy man- fixes stuff

We parted our separate ways and when he asked to hang out again I brushed it off and said “yeah, sometime. Take care, nice meeting you.” In the car, Susan turns to me and says, “I think he’s too old for you.” I agreed.

"It's nobody's business but ours."

After a month of withdrawls I finally got to spend time with my BFFs! And I'm so glad to have watched one of the greatest love stories with them. I don't want to give anything away but if you haven't seen Brokeback Mountain, you should!

It's about life. It's about the relationships you experience and how they affect you. It just makes you realize how beautiful love really is or could be between two men, two women or a man and a woman. It also showed me how difficult it was back then for LGBTs and reminds me of their struggle for liberation. And it still continues, moreso in other places. I related to Ennis' character so it a little difficult for me to understand where Jack was coming from. Regardless, watching this film has made me reflect on myself and the relationships I have with other people. I'm still touched and floored by it.

If you don't want to watch it alone, call me!

What the Pho?

IMG_1294, originally uploaded by sweetCheryl.

I've misplaced my first paycheck! I had it ready so I could deposit it but now I don't remember where I put it. Hmmm, I don't carry a purse, not in my mini wallet, nor my backpack... the search continues.

On a side note, I visited my mom and was able to hit the slopes this past weekend. It snowed the whole time we were there so it was nice and fresh.

Hanging out with Kevin was interesting. He took me to Old Sacramento where we danced to techno, hip hop, and country as we watched boxing and softball on the big screens. That's my story and I'm sticking to that. :D

As for some entertainment, do you eat pho? Watch this. Be sure to click "WATCH THIS MOVIE" on the right side of the page.

Can't shake it

Just woke up- feeling a bit indifferent, started my pc, and went through W2 info to start my taxes. Mixed in with the other letters was a letter from "you know who"...aka. ass. Then I realized that I just dreamt of him! No wonder why I didn't want to wake up. Ever have those dreams that you choose to continue to sleep just to continue to dream? I remember it clearly now and am writing about it so that I won't forget it. So, bear with the choppiness. My dreams are in segments. Sometimes they aren't related to each other at all.

I was at the movies with some friends who still remain a blur. We decided to move up to the front. Wait, come to think of it, it was a theatre setting. We decided to move closer to the stage. Yeah, that's about right. So we moved to like the 10th row from the stage and I saw ass with his girlfriend. He was turned around, which was weird, facing the back or audience. He looked angry but he was still cute in his collared stripe shirt. I think they got into an argument, as she was facing the stage. I remember that I started to freak out that I saw him and my friends were trying to hide & calm me down.

Next I remember I go up to him and start yelling at him. We end up getting into an argument. It felt good to let some of it out and let him hear me out. I don't remember any details, just the emotion I felt at that time and the fact we were finally face to face.

Okay, I don't know why this segment is here but I swear I dreamt this!!! My friends and I went to a commercial building that was probably a hotel. But while waiting in line to see 1 vendor, the setting was somewhere like Rosarito, Mexico. We were having fun and meeting new people in line. I even had my dog with me! (*note: I don't even have dog...yet) I think the dog I had in my dream was a white lassie. In case there's any significance to that.

We get inside the building that looks something like the Marriot. We finally get to see the vendor (Hispanic). Everyone was in line to see this dude. What did I buy? Ah, well, I remember my 2 blurred friends and I looking through packages of supermans, dolphins, and red tulips. We ended up getting some and we took my dog around for a run around the Marriot. We stopped to go into this one boutique- actually to stand in line there. I don't remember who we were going to see but ass was there. His girlfriend stood next to him. And we got in line right behind them. We started talking or arguing again. Suddenly he stopped talking and turned his back on me. (yeah, just avoid the problem- you are so good at that) Then his girlfriend mentions some things to me- without looking at me face to face but from the side. I hear that good for nothing phrase that his friends told me. "He was really into you and he was torn." And I couldn't help but think "Bitch! Then you knew about me all this time!"

Argh! Just like in real life, I’m left hanging- confused and pissed off. I guess I'm *subconsciously* not over it.

Incognito

I had to change my link. Sorry guys. I've had 2 people link my page from their pages which, is normally not a problem, but.. they know my stalker. I emailed my friend to un-link me but I received a bounce back through email that he will be out of town until April 13th. I had to take immediate action! My stalker probably already saw my page. :( Atleast he won't be able to find it now.

To anyone else, feel free to link me. I don't mind. Well, unless of course you are one of the two I mentioned earlier. ;)

I go through phases of when I am more paranoid than usual. This is one of those times. You see, I had this stalker last year and while he did back off a bit, he's still out there. We have mutual friends which makes it difficult as I have not sent some of them the link to my blog in fears that he will find out about me. You're prob. thinking "WTF is she talking about? She's writing about her life on the web!" True. And it's for my FRIENDS that care to see what's going on w/ me- or people that are just bored and want to read/be nosey. Yeah, I know, there's a lil' stalker in all of us but this guy really creeped me out. He's 7 years older than me, with a wife and 7 year old kid. And for a short period of my life, he contributed to my anxiety attacks.

It sucks that I have to run away like this- even and especially on the web!

P*L*U*R

Peace, love, unity and respect. That's what my weekend was about. And I don't care, you're never too old. Remember, it's a way of life. ;) I've come to the conclusion that you can tell a lot about someone when they are under the influence. Think of it this way, people that are normally good hearted, quiet or talkative will just be that way while under the influence x 3! So when you notice someone selfish and shady (i.e. not wanting to give you a bracelet or necklace) under the influence, most likely they are sort of like that in their normal state- stingy & sheisty. Likewise, if someone is naturally loving and happy, they will be that way x 3! It was good to finally release some pressure and spend time with friends that I haven't seen in a while. I got to see "Bring it on" for the first time... yeah, I know, it's old. Jesse was cute in that film but after checking him out,Tom's still my #1. *sigh*
